Jeff Mohlman’s Corner

If you’ve reached this website, then you must know that my name is Jeff Mohlman. I’m an English major at the University of Ohio. The purpose of this website is really just to stretch my legs and get my thoughts out there. I’m not expecting this to go viral in any way, but the internet is a pretty big place, and I’m happy to have a tiny little corner in it.

I like to take photos, but I’m much too embarrassed to show you any of mine, so you’ll have to settle for Jeff Mohlman’s thoughts and words for the time being.

I like reading books and watching movies. Who doesn’t? But I’m the kind of person who likes to re-read and re-watch things obsessively. I find that re-watching a classic can often tell you more about yourself and how you’ve changed since the last time that you watched it.

Plot nuances, references that went over your head, and your ability to relate most with different characters at different points of your life are just a few examples of how I feel that a film can act as a kind of mirror that allows you to reflect on your own person.

There was once one of those online quizzes going around asking, “If you were in a movie, what genre would it be?” I didn’t have to take the quiz. I already know. I’m 6’2” but I’m not athletic in any way. I have awkward red hair and freckles, and I never know what to do with my hands. I’m definitely in a dry situational comedy called Jeff Mohlman’s Awkwardness.

I once tried to get a tan, but got heat stroke instead. Sometimes I go to the bathroom and try to give off an air of purpose, just to avoid small talk and awkward pauses with people that I see almost every day. I suppose you could say that writing is a good outlet for me.
